New to Helproom,
I have and XP OS, Trying to set up a static IP address in Network Connections. Open Adapter Properties, Select TCP/IP Properties, Select "Use the following IP address", Change IP address/Subnet/Gateway/DSN, Click OK, Click Close on Adapter. All Works OK, but when I open TCP/IP properties again, the "obtain an IP address automatically" is selected.

Have anyone every experienced this, If so how can I fix it to remain on a static IP address.

Please Help.

Thanx

Thanx for you assistance but this PC is not connected to any network, so it can not be getting an IP Address from a router.

If I do connect to a network and I setup the static IP address I can get to the internet through a network. the problem becomes when the PC is shutdown and rebooted it has a different IP address because the "Obtain an IP Address automatically" is selected. A static IP address is desired for other Programs I am running on this PC.
