As you've ordered a new Windows 7 Laptop, it will probably have 802.11n built-in. Have a look at 802.11n *combined* "Router & ADSL Modems" from the mainstream manufacturers - Netgear, Linksys, D-Link, Belkin.

Some are easier (more user friendly interface) to set up than others. I am impressed with D-Link, but not impressed by Belkin products, but do not have n standard yet, as no need so far. My experience of Belkin support (on other products) has not been impressive - i.e Asia; basic.

mgmcc, your right it does have 802.11n built in.
ame i agree with you going from what i have read on forums about belkin no being to good.looking towards netgear as my prefered choice.many thanks for your replies and recomendations.
