I am running windows 2000 professional, how can I remove some applications from the system tray?

If you want to actually stop them from running then you need to run MSCONFIG. Of course W2K doesn't have MSCONFIG. So you're stuck - not! This should work click here

Untick the programs that you don't want to start on the Startup tab.

system tray sonetimes eg printer icons, utility software progs have there own disable icon in system tray etc in there own little preference settings.
