System Standby Problem

  cws666 14:45 05 Jun 2010

Although I can run System Standby from Start>Turn Off Computer>Stand By, I am unable to get it to run from Desktop>Properties>Screensaver>Power. I am using the default settings. It has worked in the past but now doesn't. Unfortunately I am unable to say when or what caused it to stop working. Can anyone help me to make it work again?

How exactly do you get it to "work" from Desktop>Properties>Screensaver>Power? The Power Options Properties box is to select your settings for standby - the way to get it to work is via the Start button as you describe.

If you set the Power settings, the PC should automatically go into Standby after the prescribed time. My PC is set to turn of the monitor after 15 minutes and to go into standby after 20 minutes. It turns off ther screen but doesn't go into standby.

What's the setting for turning off your hard disks?

It is set to never turn off hard disks. This is th default setting for "Home/Office Desk".
