system sluggish

I am thinking of disconnecting my tower and putting it into my supplier to be checked for a virus or whatever may be causing me problems which show as eg. taking 30/40 secs to "apply" new printer settings and another 30/40 to OK it or "freezing" when trying to do a Print Preview, and so on.

I don't want to lose any data, especially emails in Outlook Express and have been a bit lax in backing up.........but don't have the. time to do this before I put it in

how do I save emails and attachments into folders outside of Outlook Express ?

If I DID just disconnect the tower and put it into my supplier, will everything still be safe and accessible (assuming my supplier, whom I trust OK, doesn't do anything daft)?

Hoope you can help and thanks in advance for help received.

click here for this very web sites own anti virus down-load section. As some may be free, if only for a limited period try one. probably cheaper than handing PC in.

ctrl-alt-del just after start-up to see what is running automatically.

to help others, what operating system/ram/Hdd/etc you got?

Have you just added/removed any hardware/software before prob happened?

The following should get rid of most nasties on your system:

Download Ad-Aware from click here and Spybot S&D from click here

Update them and run them.

Also, go to click here and click on 'Scan Your PC' then follow the instructions.
