System Restore on XP

  westmoor 14:55 14 Mar 2004

I am getting no sound from my computer, so I did what I have done many times before went to System Restore and tried to restore to a point which I knew was alright.
However when the computer booted up I got the message "Your computer cannot be restored - and no changes have been made, I have tried about half a dozen times but always get the same result.
Any one got any ideas?
I am running Windows XP home with a Pentium 4

Sounds a daft question, but are your speakers plugged in ok? Perhaps the leads might have been pulled out a bit or something. If they are, have you checked that the sound is not 'mute'?

if its any consolation, I,m on xp pro & get the same message, I picked a second hand drive up & now ghost it, don't know why it wont restore, hope someone comes up with the answer

If you are "Ghosting" to a second HDD then I think you need to restore from Backup not Sys Res.

Start Menu/Programs/System Tools/Backup.
