system information missing in winxp

I have tried to access system information in system tools. The window opens and a system summary list is shown in the left pane. But in the right pain the message.
"cannot access the windows management instumentation software. windows management files may be moved or missing".
I have done a search for the files on my hd. but cant find them.
help please

If the post from VOG does not assist in sorting out your problem - please post back with details of whether you have Front Page installed on your p/c. If so advise what version you have.

hi VoG
sorry the link didnt help as i dont know how to make sure that eventlog/wmi/rpc have started correctly. the rpc event was a message i received when i had the msblaster worm. i have removed this and installed the ms fix.

After a lot of hair pulling (what's left of it)and help from my next-door neighbour - have managed to restore my System Information on Windows XP Upgrade(Home Edition) by accessing "Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 319101. Hope that is of help.
