sync out of range

  Nessie 22:39 07 May 2004

I have loaded up a game for my son that is xp compatable. I have xp pro. The programme loaded fine but when i run it the trailer runs fine and I see the makers graphics and a small "video" but when the game menu starts my monitor has "sync out of range". The music is playing in the back ground but I cant see anything. Any help would be great.

whats you resolution and refresh rate set to at the moment?

right click the desktop/properties/settings and set to 1024x768 if its `17 for example.

check advanced and under the monitor tab tick "hide modes this monitor cannot display"

then choose the highest setting from the drop down box.

Tried above. Resolution as stated and when I clear the tick box and set at highest available I get the Sync out of range message. Thanks for the help. I loaded it onto my laptop and that works so is not sure where to go now.

does this only happen then when trying to play this game on xp?

do you get this error message any other time?

what is the game?

does running it in compatabillity mode help?

what graphics card do you have,is the drivers installed, what version etc?
