Symantec Norton - With or without Groupware??

  jcotton 19:13 14 Jun 2006

Hi all,

I am looking into buying Symantec Norton Anti-Virus for 5 users on a Windows 2000 network and the 5 clients are running XP Pro SP2 but have a couple of questions that I cant seem to find the answers to

1) What is Groupware Protection. I see I could buy the SBE with or without groupware protection. Could someone please explain what this is and if its worth it?

2) What is Multi Tier Protection?

3) Compared to Avast antivirus is Norton any good?

Many Thanks

Seems to me that only question 3 needs answering:

As anti-virus protection they are both very good. However, Norton is a resource hog and you have to pay for it. Avast is free and doesn't hog resources.

I've used Norton in the past but currently use Avast.

Also sorry forgot to mention if I buy the Symantec AntiVirus SBE does this come with like a central console so that I can control all 5 PCS from the server? (as in allocating and updating the AV)

Thanks Jackcoms but what exactly is groupware protection. Because if I buy it with groupware protection its an extra £50
