symantec email proxy

i receive numerous message boxes entitled Symantec Email Proxy
The message in the boxes is as follows
"Your email message to (a list of addresses appears) with the suject of ( a subject eg "increase the size of your penis" appears) was unable to be sent because the connection to the mail server was interrupted. Please open your email client and resend the message from your sent messages folder"
Norton antiVirus scan reported a low-risk AdWare (which i told it to remove) and nothing else.
The Dell on-line system scan reports no problems.
I have contacted my ISP (BTinternet) and they are unable to help.
I am concerned that my computer is being remotely accessed by spammers. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Full scans with all the usual antimalware: A Squared, Windows Defender, your AV software and keeping your Windows patches up to date. And use Firefox.
