swg - GoogleToolbarNotifier

I have Startup Guard installed on my computer and just recently it has been telling me that the swg-Google Toolbar Notifier wants to put itself onto my Startup list in msconfig. It asks me to accept or deny this and for now I have denied it. Is this a necessary/desirable process or can I do without it altogether?
How do I go about actually dealing with it?
Any help greatly appreciated
Roy.

OK to deny, and then to stop it asking in the future:

To disable this feature, please click the "Settings" button on your Google Toolbar and choose "Options." In the "More" section, uncheck the box next to "Set and keep Search settings to Google." Click Apply and OK
