Swapping between inbuilt wifi and rangemax USB

The USB netgear rangemax dongle is only needed in the far reaches, and it hangs out of the laptop case.

Is it easy to swap between the inbuilt laptop wifi for close range, and the rangemax for long, by simply removing or inserting the USB, or does it require more complicated setup each time?

Ideally this is for someone who wouldn't be techy enough for any configuring, but if it is just plugging in / removing the usb dongle, then that would work.

(The router used is the Netgear rangemax DG834PN )

To avoid confusion it might be better to remove the mini pci card that provides the built in networking and just use the USB dongle on its own , or get an Atheros 5005 mini pci card that will do both jobs well and not use the USB adapter .
