When I connect to the internet via a 56k modem with IE 6 Iget error message svchost.exe has generated errors and has been closed, an error log has been created. This error message appears after a minute or so, after another few minutes the bytes sent starts to speed up until it overtakes bytes received (at around 500,000 bytes) and the connection slows to a complete halt. Any ideas what might be causing A- the svchost.exe error, B- the connection slowing down and C- if the two problems are related.
WHAT IS ACTUALLY GOING ON? Both of the above scenarios are a direct product of both the W32.Blaster.Worm and the W32.Welchia.Worm viruses. These viruses/worms attack TCP port 135 (RPC Service) on Windows 2000/XP machines.
