Super Multi DVD/CD Rewriter

I bought a LG 16x External super multi dvd/cd rewriter from PC World.
I bought it because it uses dvd ram disks.

After dragging and dropping a couple of files onto a dvd ram disc I got an error message telling me that the disc was full or not rewritable.A look at properties confirmed that. Also the disc tray wouldn't eject and I had to switch the rewriter on and off again to get the dvd out.
I took it back to PC World and they gave me a replacement.

It worked fine for about a week and then started doing exactly the same as the first one.

Is it likely that 2 machines would have exactly the same fault or could it be a problem with my computer ??

Either is equally possible.

Does your system meet the required spec to run the drive? power etc?

Did you test the drive on another computer?

My system has the reqired spec.

The rewriter worked fine for a week and then stopped working. Now if I put the disk in sometimes it shows bytes remaining and other times it shows "0" bytes remaining.Usually after I reboot my computer it workes ok and then stops again.
