Just run the auto update and it refused me permission to run the updater. Says "requires elevation". I downloaded the latest version fron the java site and it's installed successfully.Why the problem with the autoupdater I wonder?
Forgot to mention the autoupdate ran OK on 2 comps. running vista and xp, just refused on my laptop running vista.
I always delete the old jave before installing the new one. Then run registry cleaning afterwards as java leaves debris behind after uninstall.

that is correct but it is prone to problems from time to time causing problems with java. I always play safe with it.
