Hu, I am troubleshooting a wireless issue for a family member and am having a few problems, heres whats happening...sky broadband, net gear router (working fine for other laptops)acer aspire one netbook is stuck on "waiting for network" when trying to connect.I have deleted the connection, recreated it, checked the SSID and WEP key are ok, still no change. Removed Mcafee, and disabled windows firewall, no difference. On the router, it is set to WEP, No mac filtering, 128bit encryption, 26 hex key, b&g devices.on the working laptop, the wireless connection is set to Open, WEP, and has enable 802.11x authentication unticked. The settings are exactly the same on the netbook, but it refuses to connect. I have therefore taken it to my house, and connected to my wireless no problem, but this is WPA-PSK, TKIP. (also a netgear router)All I can think of is changing the routers settings to WPA, risking rendering the working laptop useless aswellAny ideas please?
doesn't the working laptop support wap?
I hope it supports wpa. But I'm sure there's a reason I had to use wep when I set that one up ages ago
