Stuck in a loop when trying to start.

Hello all, I am trying to reincarnate my old desktop which finally lost the will to live. A motherboard and CPU transplant and a new graphics card.

MB is Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L, CPU is a pent 2.66 dual core.

When I try to start up "Verifying DMI pool data" then just continues re-starting.

A gut feeling says memory related but I am usually wrong.

"Verifying DMI pool data"

is bad HDD machine can't find it.

Check the drive connections and also check the drive can be seen in BIOS.

Take it that this machine has XP on it?

Thanks, it has win7, at the moment I cant access BIOS with wireless keyboard I will try and fish out a PS2 if I still have one.

Ah, some progress, PS2 got me into the BIOS where it sees the drive, now wants the Windows disk to attempt repair which I will try now.

That goes as far as the blue sky with streaks across it then stops. Memory? or am I on the wrong track.

Finally went to the Install option but now of course the mouse won't work so back to the junk box to see what I can find. Some people love computers, let the force be with them:-)
