Stuck in boot cycle!! Help Pls!

  Grady 15:13 23 Dec 2003

I downloaded a driver for my HP keyboard and rebooted as instructed. Now my PC is stuck in a cycle where it gets to the Windows XP startup screen and then goes to a black screen with the words "Self Diagnosis. PC display settings correct?" in white and blue. It then reboots itself and so on.

Any ideas how I get out of it?

P.S. I can't get into Safe mode by pressing Ctrl.

Your help is appreciated.

Press F8 to get into safe mode and uninstall the new driver

F8 got me to the safe mode menu but the safe mode wouldn't load!
Any other ideas?

1) is this Windows XP?

2) Can you get to the command prompt from the F8 boot menu?

I'm sure VoG and others know the way to run SR from a command prompt...

Its windows XP.
I can't get to safe mode with a command prompt.
The XP startup screen comes up and then it says:
Self Diagnosis
PC Display Settings Correct?
It then reboots itself.
I have windows 98 on my other hard drive which I can open in safe mode if thats any help?

What Motherbaord and Bios do you have ?

  Grady 18:23 23 Dec 2003

Its an MSi KT3Ultra2
Not sure about Bios
I've just searched the HP forums and a few others havehad similar problems. One of them has the sae monitor as me: Hp M50. The reckon its to do with the resolution and frequency settings.

Ah so it could be the montior giving the message??

I notice this is a 15 inch monitor. Can you borrow a 17 or 19 inch monitor?
