Storing documents on a second HDD

Could someone please tell me how to ensure that documents are automatically saved to my D drive so that if I need to reinstall windows etc they remain safe? I have recently installed this drive and believe there is a way of making Wmy documents" shift to the second one easily.

You right click on the My Documents on the desktop, and point it to the second drive, and to the folder you want to use. The folder you use can be the My Documents folder from the C drive, moved to the second drive, if you wish.

Don't confuse the My Documents on the desktop with the actual My Documents folder on the drive - the desktop one is a sort of "super shortcut" that can point wherever you wish.
