Stopped Defrag in XP - Problems?

My son just stopped a defrag I was running in XP.

It was at around 3%. He says there was no warning of any problems when it was stopped.

I always thought it was a no-no, to stop degfrag.

Will this action have caused me any problems?

Should I do a restore?

It generally does not cause any problems when doing a defrag if you simply cancel it. Problems may arise when you restart the PC manually during a defrag but in your case there should be no adverse effects.

Thanks for your quick response. I new I could rely on this Forum.

I have just rebooted and everything seems OK.

My worry is that my HD has loads of file copies, made by defrag, just left there filling up space.

I don't think that will be the case but someone may well know the definitive answer.

Thanks for the link, but there is no definitive answer there. Anyone else know a bit more?
