Stop Norton from starting

I'm preparing a new PC for a friend's kids. I'm going to instal AVG, so I don't want the Norton 'Click to start' box appearing, which is ruining the 'Merry Christmas' desktop I've prepared. How do I stop Norton from starting?

If this is a trial version the best way is to install it then remove it from add/remove. If you can`t completely remove it (when you install AVG it will detect it) Use the removal tool from Symantec`s website.

You should be able to uninstall Norton via Control Panel - Add/remove programs.

Sorry click here

It doesn`t appear in add/remove until you install the trial version - that`s the problem I suspect!

I have Norton on my PC, but I used a Black Panther tip to stop it starting. But I can't remember how!

I hate Norton!

Start Norton. Then Start, Run, 'services.msc', right click Norton, 'Properties', Startup type, 'Disabled'.

But if you load AVG won`t you get conflicts? I still say remove it first.
