still having probs networking 2 pc,s

  geewis357 20:33 04 Jan 2005

I have been having probs conecting a laptop(xp pro) to a desktop(xp home). From the desktop no probs, I can access all files on the laptop but when I try the other way round I get a mesage that the comp is inaccessable and to contact the admin (ME)
also the message that Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer

does this mean anything to anybody, with thanks to any help

have you set up sharing permissions for the folders you are trying to access?

If you have firewalls on these pc's go into the properties and set them for a network.

Thanks Andy I will try that right away.

By the way the desktop is conected to the internet via adsl modem and the laptop is conected to the desktop via a network hub and has no probs conecting to the internet through this

Andy is right but you have to disable the firewalls first then run their network setup then enable the firewalls

tryed that the prob is still ther

  AndySD 21:16 04 Jan 2005

Is it Zone alarm on the pc?

Also on the pc do you log in with a password?

  geewis357 21:23 04 Jan 2005

no zone alarm, norton 2004 installed on both pc's. I don't think the fire wall is the prob rather than the laptop config.
