Sticky ON/OFF Switch on Comp

  slimbo51 09:03 12 Oct 2005

If the comp in question has a sticky on/off switch, could it cause the PSU to blow if the switch remained stuck in on power up.

I know the PSU requries a pulse signal from the switch to start it up, but not sure what the effects will be if it keeps getting the same signal continuesly.

Many Thanks for any help.

If the ON/OFF switch sticks in then the PC will switch off after a few seconds and stay off until the switch is released or the power is turned off at the mains.

Thanks Eric 10 thats all I wanted to know.

Had a Customers PC come in with a failed PSU, but did notice it had this switch prob.

Did'nt want to fit new PSU and send it straight down the pan.

Many thanks.
