Try this to see if it works, start Status Bar then go to tools opitions\View press the button apply to all folders and then reboot see if it still works

got the 't' shirt but no status bar -
there is supposed to be a limit of folder settings that system remembers - so have been there also tweaked that and stil no joy ;)

I don't think you can have it showing by default. It is turned off every time you shut down. XP just seems to be made that way. And it's a damn nuisance.

It shuts down between switching from one folder to another and back again - I'm on Windows 2000 here at work and it acts normal -Status bar where its left -and my old 98se works fine - On XP sp2 no joy ;)

Have you tried this Go to Control Panel Folders view remove the tick for show simple view, reboot to see if it does the trick

In this windows 2000 have just tried it and it works globally across all folder - if its on its in all folders and off its off in all folders

Removing the Simple view worked for me it now shows the bar after a reboot in xp home
