startup program that won't go away

Anyone know why the following probs keep appearing on my pc?
C:\Program Files\Scansoft\PaperPort\viperusb.exe
C:\Program Files\Scansoft\PaperPort\pptd40nt.exe
C:\Program Files\Scansoft\PaperPort\IndexSearch.exe

They keep appearing every 3 mins and are picked up by winpatrol /adaware. I have thoroughly uninstalled the visioneer software they came with and have run reg seeker to locate and uninstall all reference to these progs in the registry but they keep reappering in HKEY local machine Software\microsoft\windows\current version\run.

Have run Hikackthis - don't understand it
Am running ccleaner - likewise not sure whether i should let it clearn as well as analyse.

Could this be a trojan?
Should i just accept when winpatrol keeps blocking them???

Help please...

Don't know about viperusb.exe

You could try disabling them using msconfig click here

Startup Control Panel click here a more user friendly substitute for msconfig.

Start up Monitor click here Lets you know when a program registers itself to run at system startup, and lets you stop it if you want.

Thanks. I have a Visioneer strobe pro - never rcognised hence trying to uninstall.

VoG: Strange thing is that when i disable in msconfig, they get reloaded.

BB i have a startup monitor -winpatrol - it tells me they are trying to load all the time - should i just let them

Question is - if i have deleted them from the reg where are the re-install commands coming from?? (or is this a stupid Q?

Follow bluesbrother's link to Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel. It worked for me.
