Startup Problems

  Boyonthehill 19:13 19 Nov 2003

When I start my Win 98 pc up, it sometimes locks up when loading. The ribbon will stop, keep on going and stop again, in an irregular pattern, and then stop completely. After a few restarts it would load properely, or it would load immediately if i pressed Esc on the Win 98 ribbon screen. I started up with a bootlog, and i got the following errors:

[0007BC40] LoadFailed = ndis2sup.vxd
[0007BC8D] Dynamic load failed : [0007BC8D] File not found
[0007BD25] Dynamic load failed vredir.vxd : [0007BD25] Not a valid device - possibly corrupt

[########] Loadfailed = nwlink.vxd

(# denotes numbers)

I have since solved the problem with nwlink by replacing the file with the one of the win 98 disk. However, when i tried this with vredir and restarted, a message in DOS resembling "Vredir maybe corrupt. Please replace with the original file"(or therabouts) I am totally stuck, and any help would be greatly appreciated

sounds more like a problem with the graphics card. Try going into safe mode and reinstall the drivers for it.
