starting broadband.

I would like to go on to broadband but need some advise, I want to connect 2 computers,they are about 2 metres apart, and only 1 phone point in the room, both have got ethernet cards,could some kind person tell me what to buy to be able to run both at the same time.

1 ADSL Router and 1 RJ45 Crossover cable should have your network up and running.

A crossover Lan cable,should be all you need,and of course the modem install the modem on the pc that is going to connect set up your BB connection make sure it works then plug the Crossover cable into the network cards of both pc's,run the network wizard on both machines set the one with modem as connecting straight to net and the other to connect through a computer on your network,turn on file and printer sharing if you like and resart both pc's when the wizards finish .Then you need to set up firewall software if you have any.

If you connect with a router, you use two standard network cables not crossover.

The advantage of using an adsl router, is that both pc's connect to the www via the router independently.
