starter pack for youngster to learn programming

I would like to obtain a pack which will help my grandson to learn programming. He is 9 years old uses a computer a lot and bright. My thoughts go to, perhaps, a starter in visual basic. Can anyone advise please and, if so, point me to a suitable product?

The right age - being younger often proves even more successful - to begin to learn IT or any other subject for that matter.

My son got the bug at the age of 10 some 23 years ago and is an IT support specialist with one of the UK's biggest employers...:-)

I wish your grandson well. He's part of our future success.
