Started with running issues, now cannot start up

I own a Lenovo G50-80 laptop. Until recently it ran perfectly fine, but about a month ago I started having problems with crashing. The laptop would boot up, run fine for a while then crash - the mouse would move and icons would be selected when I hovered above them but when I clicked them, it wouldn't seem to respond.

So, thanks to a search on the internet, I tried system reset - with the option to keep all my files (I was going for another thing but I thought it couldn't hurt anyway). I had to leave it over night and most of the morning and now when I boot it does try but I just get a black screen and the cursor. Automatic repair doesn't work either. It apparently finds the problems okay but can't fix them.

I mainly use it to watch Twitch streams and YouTube videos (and, yes, porn - don't look at me like that, I have AVG so it should be fine) and have previously tried a number of image editing softwares, including Photoshop, Gimp and Krita (all deleted).

I'm currently hoping another uninterrupted reset will do the trick but I'm not sure. If anyone has any suggestions for me please, let me know.

Sometimes you may need to do the rest from a USB or even do a clean install. Download a Bootable media tool for win 10 from MS
