My XP home SP1 machine has started taking about five minutes to start up, it flashes through the various screens until it gets to the black screen with the colour XP Home Edition logo with the moving green bar underneath, then you sit and watch the green bar moving left to right and then it stops moving and takes about another 4 minutes before it moves again and then carrys on loading to my desktop.Anyone no why please.

1. System Hygene, - Defrag the C disk[start/programs/accessories/systemtools/defrag.
2.Install cccleaner[click here] and run it every couple of day espicially if you do a lot of Web work.
3 Reduce the number of prorams in the start group[Start left column righ click each program not required and click remove from group.
You actually need no programs at start up- simply start as required and exit it when dome this maximises resources available too.
