start option screen on boot up .o/s windows media

I have a compac pc. operating system is windows media edition. I get a black screen with a couple of options ( which disappears too quickly for me to read)on boot up. I do nothing and windows then starts normally. I suppose I must have done something, however, I have no idea what.I do not know how to get rid of it, if I need to, or if it indiacates some problem.
There appears to be a 'compac administrator' as well as me!
I do not know anyone else with the same type of computer.
Any responses will need to be simplified and step by step, I am very much a beginner!

You could try SFC Scannow thats for looking for and repairing faults within windows heres a link click here
Do remember the space as it won't work if you forget it, it'll do nothing at all if you forget the space.
