Start up error

My computer appears to be running absolutely perfectly except for a message, which appears at start up. I have done a system restore to when I know that this message did not appear. I have also remerged a backed up registry. None of these eliminated the message so I ran sfc /scannow. The message is still there on start up.

“INVALID BOOT.INI FILE

BOOTING FROM C:\WINDOWS\”

Does anyone have any suggestions please? In layman’s language.

There doesn't appear to be a solution there that works.

Try this click here and using the "fixboot" command

Problem solved by a gentleman on Windows Forum, by telephone. Thanks to all who offered assistance. It was solved by typing in some words, saving them to Notepad, then saving them to Boot.ini, then closing down and rebooting. Or something like that. My mind is still in a whirl, but it worked.
