Spyware Terminator identified as a Trojan

  Newuser38 11:40 08 Apr 2008

Today and yesterday Windows Defender identified "Adware:Win32/generic A --high risk trojan" running on one of my machines just as Spyware Terminator started its countdown for the daily scan.

Both programs have been running on the machine for a long time without any apparent conflict. Has there been any change recently in automatic updates for either program which might cause this.

I allowed Defender to remove the "Trojan"

A number of us have this, it looks like a false positive.

The company that made Spyware Terminator used to be on the Rogue antispyware list not so long ago. I'd scrap it if I were you.

Two different programs with same name "no trial version available - Please note that this is not the same program as Crawler.com's "Spyware Terminator," a popular freeware application [A: 2-26-05 / U: 9-7-07]"

I still wouldn't trust it even if it has been de-listed.
