Spyware and antivirus

I run Windows XP Home and have Kaspersky Internet Security installed. On running through some documents I see that I paid for Counterspy a few years ago but don't run it. Is there any advantage to be gained in running antispyware as well as a good antivirus such as Kaspersky? I think I discontinued using Counterspy because of a possible incompatibility between the two. Or is it possible Kaspersky doesn't pick up spyware as well as a dedicated programme such as Counterspy?

It's certainly advisable to run good antispyware package, as well as your KIS. I run the same ones as smackheadz.
