My system is MS Windows 98 SE with MS Office (Word, Excel, etc), Lotus Smart Suite, 1200 AMD Duron, 248 memory and 30 Gb drive.
From time to time, at the end of booting up I get a warning display ? Spool 32 This prog has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down (Close) (Details)?
The details give ?Spool32 caused an invalid page fault in module Spool32.exe @ 017f:00402015?
Spool32 is in C:\Windows\System with properties....Version 4.10.1998. Described as Spooler Sub System Process
I close the warning and all seems OK but it?s a nuisance.
What is Spool32? How did it get there? Can I (should I) delete it?
Thanks in advance for comments.

This is one of my old favourites BUT ONLY if you have a Lexmark printer.

I used to get this error and solved it by removing 3 programs from the startup tab in Msconfig. They are Lexstart, Lexprintray and Lexupmon (or very similar spelling). It doesn't affect the printing and it slightly speeds up the loading of windows. I hope this helps.

you also get spool32 errors with epson printers, if you do a search in this forum there are several threads on this problem.
