Spell check

I use gmail and Hotmail, accessing both with Firefox
Both have a spellcheck, but the gmail one neither allows me to add words to the dictionary nor auto corrects a single i into I as other spellchecks do.
Have tried contacting gmail about it, unsuccessfully.
I would be grateful for help - either in correcting these omissions or importing a more efficient spellcheck into gmail.

If you use Firefox's own spell check it will underline the i in gmail. You have to look closely to see the red line under the i.

If you right click the word which is not recognised by the Firefox spell checker you can add it to the dictionary.

Sadly neither of these happen - no red line under the I (even under a magnifying glass!) and a right click brings up "add dictionary" not "add to dictionary"
Interestingly the spell check to this message does both.

Hm works for me with gmail and Firefox. Which dictionary add-on do you have in Firefox?
