Very slow connecting to web pages sometimes as long as 10 min. I am using Windows 2000 Professional, 1.5gig CPU 500meg RAM 18gig HD (70%free)This seems to have started after installing PC-Cillin virus checker but maybe not. And thanks for sorting my "minimise" problem!!
i had the same problem not so long ago, i found that by reducing the amount of memory windows explorer uses to store temporary internet pages was the cure for me. To do this go into tools, internet options. On the general tab click on settings under the temporary internet files, this will bring the settings dialogue box up, the ideal setting is between 5 (absolute lowest) and 80mb (maximum) my memory was set to 1.3gb of space, wow what a waste, you don't need more than 80mb to store TEMPORARY internet files, good luck and let me know how you get on.
sorry mick i meant the lowest setting you should really want to have it on, you should be able to manually type 80 into the text box, 954 is far to large!. If that doesnt work, go to the temporary internet files box where you previously had to click on settings and delete your temporary files, make sure you have nothing you wouldnt want to delete saved elsewhere !
