Speakers with monitor

My CRT monitor has finally given up the ghost, so I've just connected an LCD TV, via a VGA cable, and it's up and running OK.
But I wish to know if it should be possible to get sound from the computer through the TV speakers?

I was going to get a new monitor, but thought if I got a TV/Monitor I could do away with the computer speakers.

Is it possible, and how?

Don't think so as a TV has no input for the small jack required. Most TFT monitors do have built-in speakers though.

Thanks, looks like the monitor with speakers will have to be the answer.

yes you can get the PC sound through your TV,
The only computer (or laptop) connection that carries both video and sound is HDMI. If you do not have a HDMI/DVI connector on the back of your computer, then you will have to use the VGA-composite or s-video connectors to display your PC's output on an external monitor like an LCD TV.

Don't have HDMI connection on my pc.
But thanks for the info.

you can get a small connector/converter to change the pc output to hdmi then an hdmi cable to connect to PC.
Don't ask me where from mine came with new graphics card.

Thanks, Kevscar, I'll maybe try a search before finally deciding.
