What do you want to do with it?

You need to network the computers.

Maybe just take out the hard drive for extra storage?

As Diodorus Siculus asked - a slave what?

  buckeye 20:05 31 Aug 2005

My machine is a desktop,not a tower and neither is the other base unit,so it would give me an extra 40 gig to store stuff

If both have a network card or port then simply network them together with a cross-over cable then share the drive on the spare PC, this would be very uneconomical though, as you will be using two lots of electricity.

A more sensible method would be to put the drive from the spare PC into the main one, even desktop cases can normally hold two hard drives.

The practical method is to take out the 40Gb drive, and either put it in your mainsyste, or buy an inexpensive external USB case for it.

Connecting it to the main system would require setting up a network (2x LAN cards, + cabling + setup) and some form of keyboard, mouse, and monitor connections to it, for you to control it.

The drive only way is far simpler.

mainsyste = main system
