Spam email

  [DELETED] 19:15 04 Nov 2003

I am getting bombarded with spam, receiving around 85 per day. Problem is there are some genuine emails within this number that I want! so I can't just delete the lot. Most of them are either porn, viagra or on line pharmacy. Any suggestions?

click here Used by quite a few on here, also some ISP's 'BT Openworld/Yahoo!' for instance give a free Spam blocking service that for me has been faultless.

If you are using OE Ten click on the spam E-Mail, click MESSAGE then click Block Sender, if you make a mistake go to Tools, message rules, blocked senders list where you can add , modify or remove any entry.

Have used Btopenworlds spam filter for the last couple of weeks and reduced spam by 70 - 80%

Check with your ISP.Most seem to offer some form of an 'assisted' spam removal service nowadays, either free or by subscription. You could also do a Google search for Anti Spam Programme downloads.Remember though, that the spammer is usually one step ahead, so it would be extremely difficult if not impossible to reduce your daily spam by 100%.

are the spam filters not reliant on the spam being from exactly the same email address each time and the body text being text and not a gif/jpeg of text? The spam coming to me varies it's address by a single character, name, symbol etc., etc. and the text is often an uneditable gif/jpeg. so normal filters do not work.

That is the technical knowledge of the spammer.Making slight alterations to their spam so that it will fool your anti-spam programmes. The same thing applies to the mailing address's that the spammers use. Most are un-tracable by normal means, so bouncing spam will only cause internet blockage problems. This is a multi million dollar industry, so the finance and expertise are available, to make peoples life a misery.

I have had my BT address for around 2 years now, I get zero spam. I must get the stuff sent to me however. All the relevant emails that are sent to me arrive (I think). My Hotmail junk box has around 30-50 emails in per day, around 4 or 5 get through a day that are Spam.

SpamBunker works 100% at blocking Spam - it only allows through those you tell it to.

I now get NO spam at all.

It doesn't rely on hit and miss filtering, and is virtually impossible for spammers to get around.
