Tools, Options, View tab, Formatting Marks remove ticks from relevant boxes.

Go to Tools menu | Options > View tab > under Formatting marks, remove the check button under Spaces and Paragraph marks > ok.

Either that or you have the editing marker turned on. look on the toolbar for a back to front P (a pilcrow) and click on that.

ΒΆ is the pilcrow symbol (just in case you weren't sure.

Wot's one of those then?
Like many signs and symbols in the printed language not generally used in hand written script[ unless your a professional scribe that is.]
And in reading text does not have a particular significance[to me at any rate.]
So enlighten me and humour my higgerance ;@}

With the paragraph sign showing with dots then the hidden formatting button marked by a pilcrow symbol has been turned on.

If you are in a Word document and click on that symbol on the tool-bar then it shows you the hidden 'stunt' characters eg spaces, paragraphs, line breaks etc. click here
