SP3 and svchost.exe

  timestar 09:16 06 Aug 2010

After updating to SP3 on my laptop CPU usage keeps going crazy. When I look in process manager it is svchost.exe that is using all the memory up. I gather it is something to do with Updates - how can I fix it? Thanks.

It`s probably the Indexing facility. This is supposed to make the PC quicker in finding your selections but many people find (as you appear to have done) it is continually using CPU and hence battery.

Or try turning Windows Automatic Updates off.
