I need to install sp 2 for the usb 2.0 drivers. But will not install cause it says not a valid windows key. i brought the computer from a fair with windows pre installed, so i imagine that ive been sold a pirate windows copy, more fool me. Is there any way i can install these drivers without sp1 or sp2.

No, you need SP2 installed for USB2.0 support. This can only be done with a valid key. You can buy a valid copy of Windows XP and there is a way to then change the key on the installed version to the legitimate key you bought. Then you can install SP2.

Incidently, you should report the seller for supplying pirated software.

If you need to change the key to a valid one you have purchased, here is a guide on how to do it:

You don't need SP2 to run USB2. Mine is running happily with only SP1 installed !

i cannot install sp 1 either, same problem. I did report the seller but i think he did a runner.
