I am runnng a Home edition of Win XP and can get plenty of sound when I sign on to my PC. However whan my wife signs on to XP the machine is mute! I have checked all the usual "Mute Sound" options with no luck. anyone got any ideas?

Have you tried, right click on Icon in sys. tray, and open "Volume controls" check all the boxes in there to make sure none are ticked, then look top left of the window, click, "Options" then Properties, this time place a tick in all the boxes.

Should leave you with a play control window with 10 or 11 options, un-tick all boxes as required. this may fix your problem. You can check all this while still on-line! good luck. J.
