Had a problem with onboard sound after a reintsall of win2000 the ousnd came out very faintly so I have diabled the onboard sound and installed a sound card but win2000 keeps telling me there is a problem with either drivers or hardware, have tried removing drivers and reinstalling but nothing doing any ideas?
Also I have a cdrom and a cdrewriter installed id that makes any difference.

how did you disable the onboard sound, though the bios or jumpers on the motherboard

did you remove the drivers for your onboard sound before you installed the pci sound card

and with it being quiet was it anything to do with the speakers, or sound properties,

I disabled the onboard sound through bios and removed drivers I checked the sound properties which were fine and checked the speakers on another pc and they worked ok
