sound problems

I have a wierd soud problem on a tiny computer, the sound failed, I installed a new sound card and tested on start-up, but when I try listen to am audio cd there is no sound. I've tried another CD-Rom, all the cables, checked settings, but I still have no sound from the CD.

All ideas greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming you're running XP if anything else this info will vary but is broadly the same

Go into control panel - sounds and audio devices - click the audio tab. Is your sund card recognised in the top box under sound playback?

If not this is your problem it needs drivers.

If it is recognised click the volume button and ensure that no mute boxes are ticked.

If all is well here the only other thing left to check is the audio cable connection from the cd drive to the sound card
