sound advice

i post for help ealier today on problems with play back on my disc drive not being able to hear it correctly weather it is a dvd or music cd. The sound is all screwed up, but looking at the timer(countdown, stopwatch thing)the seconds seem to be slow, would this effect the playback sound? Like i said earlier my laptop isn't that old and it didn't do it when i bought the thing.

Have you cleaned the cd/dvd,maybe the cd lens wants a clean too.

Have you defragged the hard drive recently?

  Mr "B" 19:13 19 Mar 2006

To be fair it has hardly been used so i wouldn't of thought it could be dirty but anything is worth a try, whats the best way to clean this?

Does defragging work with this then cause i'll give that a go also, computers are not really my specialist subject so is this an easy operation? I know where it is on my PC but never done it, whats the advantage of doing it?

It can speed up program accsess on your pc,dont know if it would have any effect if you are playing content from a cd/dvd apart from opening the movie player quicker. But its always good to do)

I think it'll be an idea to take it back to where i got it from, its still under gaurantee, at least then it lets them concern about it. Unless i can sort it out but i'm prob a tad out of my league with this one.
