Sorting folders and files in Windows 10

Hi all. It's a while since I was here... I'm running Windows 10. When I use Windows Explorer, what I want, for every folder, is for the folder to be sorted in order of date modified with the most recent at the top, with folders at the top of the list and files at the bottom of the list, also with the most recent at the top. I'm damned if I can work out how to do it, so any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks rdave13. I did that, then chose to have that folder view applied to all folders - but it didn't work... :-( Any more thoughts?

"then chose to have that folder view applied to all folders - but it didn't work"

Just to be sure...

After you made the change to one folder, you clicked on the 'view' tab, then on 'options' and then on 'change folder and search options'

Then you clicked on the 'view' tab, and then on the button marked 'Apply to folders'

is this what you did?

Many thanks FE and rdave13. It's now working exactly as I wanted. Yes, that's what I thought I'd done, FE. I don't know if I had finger problems the first time around, or whether I just didn't read my folder lists properly - but we're all good. Problem solved.
