Sorting columns in Excel

  Perle 19:15 10 Mar 2007

Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to lock rows
horizontally so that if you sort the data in say one of five columns using the A-Z sort function on the toolbar, the data remains lined up horizontally and doesn't go out of sync.

Thanks in advance

Select all of the columns, then Data > Sort and follow the prompts. Nothing should 'go out of sync'.

Be sure, as VOG correctly mentions, to select ALL the columns. Choose one row before sorting to double check your data afterwards.

If you click the cell at the top left hand courner, this will select the entire spreadshhet, then you will have no fear that you have msiied out anything. If you're really in doubt, select some rows at random including the first and last, and highlight each in a different colour. You can then double-check after the sort.

Many thanks to you all for your kind help.
It's easy when you know how!
