Some queries??? AVG, Norton and Direct X 9

  Gaz 25 12:21 25 Apr 2003

Ok, first, AVG, it will not update it has a resume file blocking it, after reinstalling AVG it caused serious error on windows start-up, and kept restarting, so while stuck with it how can I clean out the blocked file so it can download new updates from within the program.

Norton, Firewall, what does no match mean in statistics, and is it normal to have 207 in there?

Finally, Direct X 9 ?? Is it compatable with Geforce 4 440, 460? And Ti4200?

And if not I have it on my system running the above graphics card what will it do?

Will it digrade performance?

I don't think these cards were designed to support DirectX 9.0. The latest graphics cards such as Radeon 9700Pro and FX range do.

Installing DirectX 9.0 is ok, its just that it won't run to its full potential without a card that supports it.

DirectX 9.0 is backwards compatible so that anything (games etc) that recommended, say, DirectX 8.1, will definately work with 9.0.

I have a Ti4600 with DirectX 9.0 and have seen no change whatsoever. But I installed it so that I wouldn't have to in future.

If you can't get AVG to work try Avast4 click here as with AVG it's free with free updates on registration, but it's got a better Virus bulletin pass rate.

which cost me quite a lot of money so I will put that on, but every time I remove AVG using a dedicated uninstaller or the built-in one it causes serious stpop error and starts restarting.

What do I do if I cannot get rid of it?

Have you tried deleting it in safe mode?

Know its obvious but they are the things I usually miss!

I think stoping AVGCC and others works, I will try now.

Has anyone else had this?
